MTV Australia

Sep 7, 2012 – MTV Australia ran a Leaderboard at the 2012 Video and Music Awards ‘Blogfast’ to encourage bloggers to tweet about the awards. Over 1200 tweets were generated in the short 3 hour period.

We interviewed Carrie Jones at MTV to get her feedback on the Leaderboard:

Who did you leaderboard?
We invited a range of press, online bloggers, faces and some talent to watch the VMAs and tweet along to the hashtag #vmablogfast

 Why did you leaderboard them?

Part of the aim of the morning was to increase the online discussion of the awards show within Australia, and the competition element encouraged people to keep tweeting

It created a friendly competitive feel of the morning, with people’s tweets showing on the screen and keeping track of their progression in the rankings

What did you hope to achieve and did it go well/as planned/exceed your expectations?

The hashtag ‘#vmablogfast’ was trending top in Australia, and even trended in the top ten internationally on the day! This was very exciting for us.

How would you rate the Leaderboarded service?

I would rate it highly – being able to redesign the Leaderboard to reflect our on air creative looked really good!
